Hawaii's Farms
Need Your Hands

After devastating Kona storms overwhelmed hundreds of families, small businesses, and farms, our community is working to rebuild.

Many of our neighbors, friends, kūpuna, keiki, and farmers woke in the night to floodwaters, with some forced to swim or paddle to safety. By morning, many were facing the loss of everything they had worked so hard to build.

In true North Shore spirit, the community stepped up — neighbors rescuing neighbors and volunteers showing up from across the island. But the devastation is vast, and our community is exhausted after multiple storms hit one after another.

Why It Matters

Waialua, Mokuleia, and Kunia were hit hardest. They need us now.

Back-to-back Kona storms dumped over 30 inches of rain across the North Shore. Floodwaters rose four feet in forty minutes — mud reached five feet deep inside homes. Over 344 farms and ranches are reporting losses totaling $18.9 million, and only 3% of Hawaii's farms carry crop insurance.

These families, farmers, and small businesses are our neighbors. They supply local markets, restaurants, and communities with food and services you can't get anywhere else. The devastation is vast and our community is exhausted — but together, we can rebuild.

info 233 life-saving rescues. 5,500 residents evacuated. Hundreds of homes damaged. Every volunteer and every dollar makes a real difference.

Volunteer FAQ

Do I need farming experience? expand_more

Not at all. Most cleanup and rebuilding tasks are general labor — clearing debris, moving materials, basic repairs. Farmers will guide you on the day. Specialized skills are a bonus, not a requirement.

What should I bring? expand_more

Sturdy closed-toe shoes, work gloves, sunscreen, a hat, water, and a packed lunch. If you have your own tools (shovels, rakes, etc.), bring them along — but farms will have basics available.

I'm off-island — can I still help? expand_more

Absolutely. You can donate funds, help with social media outreach, make phone calls, design flyers, or assist with admin and coordination work remotely. Select "Remote only" in the form above.

Can I bring a group or team? expand_more

Yes! Church groups, corporate teams, school clubs, and friend groups are all welcome. Just fill in the group details in the form and we'll coordinate a farm assignment that fits your group size.

Is there liability coverage? expand_more

FarmToYou coordinates volunteers but individual farms handle on-site safety. You'll receive a brief safety orientation before starting. We recommend checking with your own health insurance provider regarding coverage for volunteer activities.

How will I be matched to a farm? expand_more

We match based on your location, skills, availability, and the farms' most urgent needs. You'll receive an email within 48 hours with your farm assignment, directions, and a point of contact.
