Flood Recovery at Kiʻikiʻi Farm Provisions
A GAP-certified regenerative family farm in Kamananui, Waialua, Oʻahu rebuilding after devastating floods impacted crops, equipment, and critical farm infrastructure.

WHAT HAPPENED
During the recent flooding event, Kiʻikiʻi Farm Provisions was completely covered by 3 to 6 feet of water from top to bottom.

Critical farm infrastructure was submerged, including the nursery, storage container, and wash-and-pack station.

The flooding destroyed thousands of dollars worth of packaging materials, harvest crates, farm tools, and silage tarps used throughout the operation.

What normally serves as a productive growing and harvesting environment became a major recovery effort overnight.

Infrastructure Damage
Floodwaters entered the farm's storage container, nursery, and wash-and-pack station, affecting essential daily operations.
Equipment Losses
The farm's golf cart and electric snorkel lift were submerged and damaged by floodwaters.
These tools are critical for maintaining farm operations and harvesting crops.
Crop Losses
Several crops suffered major damage including avocado, papaya, mint, kale, and peppers.
Kalo fields that were nearly ready for harvest may require sanitation and replanting.
Field Damage
A field that was prepared for expansion and planting before the flood now requires extensive restoration before production can resume.
MANGO HARVEST CHALLENGE
A Critical Challenge During Mango Season
One of the most urgent recovery challenges involves the farm's electric snorkel lift.

Many of the farm's mango trees exceed 40 feet in height. The snorkel lift allows safe access to fruit high in the canopy during harvest season.

Because the lift was flooded and is currently inoperable, harvesting a significant portion of the mango crop has become extremely difficult.

The farm is actively seeking repair solutions and equipment access to ensure this season's harvest can continue.

Cleaning and repairing flooded facilities including the nursery, storage areas, and wash-and-pack station.

Evaluating and repairing essential farm equipment damaged by floodwaters.
Field Rehabilitation
Preparing damaged fields through weed management, cover cropping, and soil restoration.
Replanting
Restoring crop production and preparing for future harvests.

Welcome to our farm – nestled in the ahupuaʻa of Kamananui, the moku of Waialua, and the mokupuni of Oʻahu. We’re a small family farm, grateful every day for this chance to care for this ʻāina. Tending this land is both a responsibility and a joy that we don’t take lightly.
