Welcome to FarmToYou, HI Land Farm. We're proud to stand with you.
HI Land Farm is a family-run, four-acre operation in Wahiawa, Oahu. They grow green onion, green garlic, and cilantro — and quietly, underneath all of that, they're doing the slower and harder work of rebuilding soil through regenerative practices.
Why They Started
Hawaii imports most of what it eats. For a family with two young children, that fact stopped being an abstraction and started becoming a reason. They wanted their kids to grow up connected to the land. They wanted to strengthen the local food system they rely on. So they started farming.
That's a decision that sounds simple in a sentence and is almost never simple in practice. Four acres is enough land to matter and not nearly enough to cushion a bad year. The margins on fresh herbs and alliums are thin. The tools are expensive. The weather doesn't negotiate.
What the Floods Took
Recent flooding devastated their crops and damaged their infrastructure. In a few hours, a season's worth of work — the soil they'd been rebuilding, the plantings they'd tended, the equipment they'd saved for — was compromised. On a farm this size, there is no insurance claim that makes that whole.
But they're still here. In their own words:
"We're not giving up — but we can't do this alone."
Why This Matters to FarmToYou
FarmToYou exists because families like this one exist. Our job is not just to be a marketplace — it's to be a platform that shows up when things get hard, and keeps showing up while farmers rebuild. A producer page isn't a product listing. It's a handshake. When HI Land Farm's crops come back in, they'll come back in here, on a profile their customers already know.
Until then, we want their story to be seen.
